Sean Erick

Role in the TN Kids: Trumpet - Flugelhorn / Member of The Regiment Horns

Hometown: Berkeley, CA

Motto? “Enjoy this.”

How did you first start getting into music/dancing?

My elementary school said we could either read silently for thirty minutes every Tuesday or join the band. Easy.

First concert?

My mom took me to a Pearl Jam concert when I was ten or eleven. Foo Fighters opened.

Who's your biggest influence? Idol?

Freddie Hubbard is my favorite trumpet player. My influences go past music to the point where I wouldn't know where to begin...or end.

Nickname? (And why?)

“SeanE” (I have an extended version of that from high school, but I'll keep that one between me and my friends from back in the day)

On tour, you can't survive without (these 3 things):

1. Candy bag of assorted goodies

2. Aftershow showers

3. Hot sauce

What's been your favorite place you've visited so far and why?

I really enjoyed exploring the "old world” cities - Jerusalem and Istanbul stand out specifically. Learning the history of the world and then seeing it in person is quite an experience. It helps a person understand where we are now and how to open up dialogue and understanding.

What's your favorite song to dance/play? Go-to karaoke song?

"Bohemian Rhapsody” - Queen

"Just What I Needed" - The Cars

"Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" - Ottis Redding

"The Humpty Dance" - Humpty Hump

What message would you give to an aspiring musician/dancer?

For me, it was all about being liquid. Being prepared for anything can lead you places you never expected; whereas, sticking to a plan may lead you astray. Essentially, goals are great tools. They're motivating and inspirational, but expectations can be harmful.

Do you have your own personal project?

Life ;^)

Anyone you want to give a shout-out to?

Shout-out to all my teachers, family, surrogate family, and friends who kept me floating, pulled me ashore, and taught me to swim -- when it was so easy for me to sink and drown.

And of course, to my bois, who've been holding this horn section game down with me for 8 years and counting, Kevin Williams and Leon Silva. Regi-WHAT?!?

And lastly to The Lomel, because IFLY ;^)
